DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful reports it had 2,349 volunteers who cleaned more than 100 miles of roadways during its cleanup weekend.
Organizers called the effort a "big success."
In Lee County, 32 volunteers and the Lee County High School Navy Junior ROTC cleaned up trash and litter across the county on Saturday for its Great American Cleanup.
They concentrated on cleaning around the storm drain system to prevent litter from entering waterways.
At the landfill's Amnesty Day, 118 loads of material with a weight of 28 tons was accepted as people cleaned up around their homes.
