Car drives into Albany duplex, driver flees

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police responded to a duplex after a truck hit the building, taking out power for one side of the street.

It happened just after 11 p.m. on Saturday at 1012 Davidson Drive.

Neighbors said they called police after they heard a truck hit the building.

No one was inside the vehicle when police arrived on scene.

The vehicle did not have a tag and no injuries were reported, according to police.

APD reports the portion of the duplex that was hit was unoccupied.

Dougherty County EMS Supervisor Hall Pinson said the truck ran off the road, took out a mailbox and drove into the apartment, which caught on fire.

It's unsure if a fire had to be extinguished, but smoke was seen coming from the truck.

EMS and Albany Fire Department responded.

The incident is under investigation.
