DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - The Douglas Police Department is warning residents that drag racing will not be tolerated in the city.
Department officials said they've gotten numerous reports of drivers racing on public streets throughout the city. They said drag racing is a violation of the law and could have serious consequences, including jail time and fines.
Police also said that a citation for drag racing holds higher penalties than an average speeding ticket.
Police Chief Gary Casteloes recommends racers use drag strips in the area so they can compete in a safe, controlled area.
