OCILLA, GA (WALB) - Just over a month after Southeastern Grocers announced the closing of its Harveys store in Ocilla, as well as several other Harveys, Bi-Lo, Winn-Dixie and Fresco y Más locations, a Piggly Wiggly owner in Ashburn is now planning to open another store in Ocilla.

According to the Choose Ocilla Facebook page, the city council is already working with David Moore, the owner of Moore Foods, LLC, which owns and operates the Ashburn Piggly Wiggly.

The Facebook post says that Moore and his two sons are working quickly to get the store open.

One of the owners, Mike Moore, said the Piggly Wiggly will be taking over the Harveys building.

Moore also said that tentatively, they are aiming to open the second week of May if absolutely everything goes perfectly.

The city council and the Ocilla-Irwin Industrial Development met on Wednesday to approve financing to help finalize the arrangements.
