DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

For three decades, Albany citizens have joined together for Stash the Trash.

It's an annual litter clean-up event that lasts two days.

The community-wide event is on Saturday and already thousands are committing their time to help make their hometown shine.

"We have over 2,300 that are signed up right now and that is an awesome statement for our citizens. We are clearly saying we don't want litter in our community," said Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful Executive Director Judy Bowles.

Government teams will be going out on Friday.

And, community volunteers will pick up litter Saturday.

If you want to join a Stash the Trash team, or even create your own, you can call the Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful office at (229) 430-5257.
