The Sylvester Police Department is searching for an armed robbery suspect.

Wednesday, Sylvester Police Chief Ken Washington said that a woman who was making a night deposit Tuesday for the KFC/Taco Bell at the Sylvester Banking Company was robbed by a man holding some kind of weapon.

Washington said the victim drove up to the deposit box, stepped from her vehicle, and was approached by a tall man holding something in his hand.

He snatched a money bag from her and ran off towards East Pope Street. The employee was not injured.

Minutes later, police located a person fitting the description of the suspect on Westberry Street, and took him into custody as a person of interest.

Washington said the case is under investigation, but did not say if the man they had was charged.
