MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Organizers of the Spring Fling & Backyard BBQ said people from all over the country come to Southwest Georgia for the event.

Expecting a large crowd, the Moultrie Police Department plans to increase its personnel.

The Moultrie Police Department said its main priority is to assure that people can enjoy themselves at the festival.

They said they have discussed plans with EMS and the fire department to provide all-around protection.

"If you're at the event and you feel that you need to report something, find an officer or a fireman or EMS and they will have radios to contact other personnel and we'll get you the help that you need," said Moultrie Police Department Captain David Corona.

Moultrie police are also partnering with the sheriff's office for the event.

They plan to set up more patrol units and provide assistance to those who need it.
