COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The second suspect in the Columbus Pawn Shop murder made his first appearance in Recorder’s Court on Wednesday.

Marquiell Wilson pleaded not guilty to shooting and killing a Pawn Shop employee, 68-year-old Joseph Johnson on Dec. 20.

During an interview with officials on Tuesday, Wilson reportedly admitted to shooting both victims.

"Mr. Wilson stated that is was a planned robbery between him and Chop,  which is Quintavis Williams, nick-named Porkchop. They planned on robbing the business of firearms they had at the pawn shop at the time. He did also admit to shooting Joseph Johnson and the second employee,” said a CPD investigator.

Both suspects, Wilson and 15-year old Quintavis Williams were also shot.

Spending two weeks in the hospital, Wilson is wheelchair bound, with an amputated leg.

Wilson’s girlfriend, who was in court Wednesday morning, says she is still trying to comprehend the confession and everything that has happened.

“I don’t know what triggered him to do anything like this. Just to hear him say he did do it, it hurt, I never knew him to do anything like that," said Chakeria Jackson.

Investigators say they have projectiles, shell casings, guns, and blood evidence from the scene.

Authorities also say cameras captured every moment inside of the Columbus Pawn Shop. However, surveillance video has not been released.

Since the time of the fatal shooting, the store has permanently closed.

Wilson was not given bond and his case has been bound over to Superior Court.
