MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (KPRC/CNN) -  Police in Texas have arrested a couple accused of stealing from a church that took them in after Hurricane Harvey flooded their home.

Blake Mayon and Naomi Johnston are facing charges of felony theft. Authorities say they arrested the pair on Friday after receiving tips from the public.

"During that time, we had given them keys to the church. We had given the husband odd jobs to do around the church to try to help him get back on his feet. Toward the end of their stay, we started finding stuff missing, tools, televisions, a sound system that we use for our food bank,” said pastor Chris Zeller of Dacus Baptist Church.

After Mayon's arrest, police say they found stolen property in the truck that he was driving, a truck the church had given to him.
