ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Christmas eve is now just one week away!

Churches across Southwest Georgia are hosting celebrations for the third Sunday of Advent.

Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany held its annual Christmas Cantata program on Sunday morning.

Biff Coker, Senior Pastor, said his church parish celebrated a festival of lessons and carols.

Beth Tyrer, Choir Director, said choir members sing Christmas songs and even play handbells to truly get into the holiday spirit.

"We're just looking for a joyful experience, a time when our hearts can be lifted up and we can be inspired by the beautiful music of Christmas," said Coker.

Coker said the event means there's hope for the future as many blessings come from the gift of Christ.
