CRISP CO., GA (WALB) - A South Georgia Sheriff's Office is using social media to keep people happy and safe to celebrate the holidays this year.
Each day this month, Crisp County Sheriff's Office is posting a new tip on Facebook.
That includes live Christmas tree safety and staying safe on the roads.
But, the sheriff's office also has some goals to keep people from becoming victims of crimes this time of year.
Sheriff Billy Hancock said the crime risk does go up around the holidays.
"One of the recent crimes we have where people broke into cars, the young man told us, he said, 'I was just trying to get Christmas and holiday for my family, and I don't have a job.' Just like you and I feel the obligation and the want to provide for our family and make them have a nice Christmas, so does every other individual," said Hancock
