Lee County leaders are one step closer to building a new boat ramp at Sutton's Landing.
On Tuesday night, county commissioners approved an agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers to build a boat ramp and canoe and kayak steps.
Sutton's Landing is named in honor of Marine Lance Corporal Steven Sutton, who was killed in May 2012 in Afghanistan.
It's an area owned by Lee County.
Through a lease agreement with the county, the Department of Natural Resources will operate the boat ramp.
County leaders are finalizing the paperwork in hopes to start the project at the end of this month.
