Georgia Power and other utility companies across the country are marking Wednesday as Utility Scam Awareness Day.

There are several things Georgia Power wants you to be aware of to avoid common scams.

  • Georgia Power will not demand payment in person.
    • If your payment is late they will send you a pre-recorded message.
  • All of its employees wear an ID badge, a uniform and drive a company vehicle.
  • And Georgia Power will never ask for a credit card number over the phone.
