ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

ASU Police know you have questions with the new campus carry law in effect for firearms.

And next week, you'll have a chance to get some answers.  Next Tuesday morning, Albany State University Police will hold a workshop for faculty, students, staff, and visitors.

The goal of the workshop is to clear up confusion on the do's and don'ts of the new campus carry law.

It allows students with a permit to carry a concealed weapon on a public college campus. Guns are allowed in classrooms, but not in classrooms with enrolled high school students.

ASU Police Chief John Fields said there are no such things as dumb questions, so everyone with concerns is encouraged to stop by.

"We're going to talk about House Bill 280," said Chief Fields. "The second part is going to talk about our alert training.  It's going to teach you what you need to do in case of an active shooter or emergency crisis.  We will have some scenarios to make it kind of fun for the people to get involved."

Next week's free workshop will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the J Building on the West Campus.

There will be another workshop on the East Campus later this year.
