CORDELE, GA (WALB) - A Crisp County ministry went out of its way to let first responders know that citizens appreciate them, and are behind them.
Hand of Hope in Cordele hosted an appreciation breakfast Friday morning for several dozen police officers, sheriff's deputies, EMT's and firefighters.
"When you have the community that comes out and says, 'hey we want to support you, we want to recognize the sacrifices that you do,' it's a wonderful gesture," said Cordele Police Chief Rob Rodriguez.
Organizers said they hoped the event would boost morale among those tasked with keeping the community safe.
"We want all of them to know that we just appreciate them getting up every day, going to their work and faithfully serving," said Glenn Jarrett, Hand of Hope Director. "This is just a small way we can say thank you for what you do."
Friday's breakfast marked the second year Hand of Hope has hosted an appreciation event for law enforcement.
Organizers expanded it to all first responders this year.
