BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -
Acting on a tip, Bainbridge Public Safety officials raided a house in the 1600 block of Libby Street, Thursday.
They confiscated eight pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and $5,757 in cash. Investigators also arrested Rodriquez Deontae Cheatham, 23, of Bainbridge.
The marijuana had been boxed and was shipped to Cheatham through the U.S. Mail. Investigators are using package labeling and tracking information to obtain more information about others involved in the operation.
"Many times packages will be sent through the mail to an address of a home that is vacant," said Investigator Chip Nix. "The recipient will be informed as to when the package will be delivered and will hang-out in the area. Area residents need to keep their eyes open and always report suspicious activity. If a house is not being lived in, but people are seen hanging around, they need to let us know so we can investigate.”
Cheatham was charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell/Distribute.
The case is still under investigation, and further arrests may be forthcoming.
