UPDATE: Suspect identified in Dawson hit-and-run

DAWSON, GA (WALB) -

A person has been taken into custody in connection to a deadly hit-and-run in Dawson.

Michael Wayne Wright, 40, was arrested around midnight Thursday night.

Investigators said Vacarro Cody, 40, was struck by a stolen car on Augusta Street just before 7:00 Thursday morning.

A passerby spotted his body in a yard and called 911.

The car was reported stolen at later that morning and was discovered in a field in Parrott.

Wright is being held in the Terrell Co. jail, with no bond set. No first appearance scheduled at this time. 

The GBI was called in to investigate.
