ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Tuesday night, Flight the Blight organizers met with neighborhood members from the Shackleford Park community.
A couple dozen people met with city of Albany organizers and police.
The idea is to clean up litter and blighted properties in one specific area of the city, to show good results.
One of their first steps is to recommend a neighborhood watch.
Police listened to the neighbors' concerns.
"Speeding through alleys, speeding through streets where the children were playing. There was also an issue with people congregating right in the center of the neighborhood," said Albany Transportation Planner Kerrie Davis.
Fight the Blight will be holding a clean up day on Saturday September 23rd, to pick up trash and do some light rehab on dilapidated buildings.
