TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Tift Regional Medical Center now has two new pediatric hospitalists.
The doctors are typical pediatricians but only see inpatient pediatrics.
With the growth of staff, the hospital can now expand their patient services, allowing parents and children to not have to go to Macon, but can stay in Tifton for care.
Tift Regional medical center houses 18 hospital beds in its pediatric unit.
And these pediatric hospitalists provide care for the young patients at the hospital.
Medical Director of Affinity Pediatrics Dixie Griffin said that getting the new hospitalists helps with availability.
"You don't have someone who is obligated to care for outpatient pediatrics as well as inpatient, so your full dedication and time is to inpatient medicine. So you're not distracted," said Griffin.
This new addition will also help residents in Albany to not travel so far for inpatient pediatrics.
