LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

A Lee County church made heading back to school a little easier and more fun for students Sunday.

The Church of the Groves hosted its second annual Back to School Party for students starting the new year.

Lead pastor Ben Steffens said he believes events like these give children and parents something to look forward to.

"The kids are going back to school and they get just bombarded with a bunch of stress and stuff right at the first of the school year," said Steffens. "We thought, let's throw a party with hot dogs and popsicles and water slides and let them have fun."

Steffens said the church hopes to continue having these parties for years to come.
