ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Several rallies continued Sunday in Atlanta in response to the violent protest in Charlottesville, Virginia where several people were killed and dozens of others were injured.

Hundreds came out to DeKalb County for a Stand with Charlottesville Vigil which was held in Decatur Square. People also flocked to Piedmont Park in Atlanta where a statue was vandalized.

Someone painted bright red graffiti onto the "Peace Monument."  No injuries were reported during the protest.

Several other statues in the south received similar treatment. A Confederate statue in honor of John B Castleman in Louisville, Kentucky was vandalized and covered in orange paint.

The mayor of Lexington, Kentucky says he is taking steps to remove two Confederate era statues from the lawn of a former courthouse.

Meanwhile, in metro Atlanta, a similar gathering was held at Woodruff Park and organized by the Metro Atlanta Democratic Socialists of America.

The memorial and march were held to honor the fallen and injured in Charlottesville.
