ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

More than 2,500 students are moving into Albany State University today and tomorrow.

Students, family, and staff have been hard at work since 7 this morning and will be out there until 7 tonight gearing up for the new year.

Since the consolidation with Darton, ASU has 13 residence halls.

Interim Vice President of Student Affairs, Michara DeLaney said by living on campus students have the full college experience and can be close to campus to participate in activities throughout the year.

"I'm just most excited about the actual engagement of the students, engagement with the faculty, engagement with the staff, and planning the activities," said DeLaney.

ASU's first day of class is Monday.

Parents of elementary students in Dougherty County can find out the procedures for the late dismissal, along with more information on the eclipse, here.
