TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - Three people have been arrested after a two-month long drug trafficking investigation by the Tift County Sheriff's Office, Mid-South Narcotics Task Force and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
David Rigdon, 33, of Tifton, John Howard, 42, of Tifton, and Michelle Newell, 35, of Tifton, are all facing multiple charges.
On August 10 and 11, the investigation led to multiple search warrants being served in Tift County and the seizure of the following items:
- Approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine
- 1 gram of heroin
- 120 Hydrocodone tablets
- 12 Lorazapam tablets
- Fentanyl patches
- $1,500 in cash
- 2 handguns
Rigdon was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl and use of a communication device to facilitate a drug deal.
Howard was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II drug with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Newell was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
Sheriff Gene Scarbrough said the investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests are expected as multiple law enforcement agencies work together to try and 'rid the community of drug distributors.'
