Thomas University holds new student orientation

THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - More than 140 students and parents are in Thomasville on Friday to attend the Thomas University new student orientation.

In the past it has been a two day event, but this year organizers condensed it into one day.

The orientation allows new students to visit the campus, see where their classes will be and meet other students who will be attending as well.

Students said it's a helpful event.

"Today we've got them here. They're going to learn all about Thomas University. Different things - what to do on campus. We're excited to have them and we think they're excited to get here to and just get started," said Courtney Rosa, Student Activities Coordinator.

During the orientation, the school staff introduced the new nighthawk mascot for the school year.

Classes start back on Monday.
