Additional charges brought against Thomasville school director

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

The Thomasville private school administrator indicted on 15 charges last month has been indicted on four more.

A Thomas County grand jury handed down the indictments against Dr. Linda McLean, 66, Thursday.

McLean is facing three additional counts of cruelty to children in the first degree and a charge of aggravated stalking.

McLean was indicted on July 13 for the first 15 charges.

The charges she is now facing are as follows:

  • 11 counts cruelty to children in the first degree
  • 4 counts aggravated assault
  • 1 count battery
  • 1 count simple battery
  • 1 count simple assault
  • 1 count aggravated stalking

McLean, the director of Favor Christian Academy, was arrested in September of 2016 after officials investigated reports that a child had been assaulted.

The indictments list 11 children, with the following accusations for cruelty to children:

  • Child #1 - Indictment states that McLean struck the child with a ruler and also grabbed the child around the neck and shook her.
  • Child #2 - Indictment states that McLean grabbed the child by the throat, pushing him/her into furniture, pinning down and getting close to their face. It also lists that McLean whipped the child with a belt in the lunchroom in front of other students. The child had welts on their arms, legs, back, and chin.
  • Child #3 - Indictment states that McLean placed her hands around child's throat and threatened to choke the life out of her
  • Child #4 - Indictment states that McLean struck the child with a ruler on hands and body, pinching throat.
  • Child #5 - Indictment states McLean threatened to hit a child with a broom in the head.
  • Child #6 - Indictment states that McLean grabbed a child by the head, twisted their neck and forced their head onto a table repeatedly.
  • Child #7 - Indictment states that McLean forced a child to lie across a chair with pants down, required bigger students to pin him down so she could whip him.
  • Child #8 - Indictment states that McLean threw a workbook at a child.
  • Child #9 - Indictment states that McLean had the child lay across the desk and instructed older children to hold him down while she whipped him with a yardstick.
  • Child #10 - Indictment states that McLean had the child lay across the desk and instructed older children to hold him down while she whipped him with a yardstick.
  • Child #11 - Indictment states that McLean had the child lay across the desk and instructed older children to hold her down while she whipped her with a yardstick.

    The Albany Police Department is looking into two aggravated assaults, involving paintball guns, both in the same night.  The first incident happened around 10:15 Saturday night, and the second was 10 minutes later.
