TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

The Tift County Board of Education and the Tifton-Tift County Public Library are working together to provide more reading opportunities for area residents. School and library leaders are set to unveil a new bookmobile soon.

Tift Co. Schools Chief Academic Officer Mickey Weldon said the school system used to help the library years ago, but once the economy dipped, school leaders had to quit.

Fortunately, the school system is able to help the library once again.

The Big Green Reading Machine, which is what the bookmobile will be called, will be loaded with books and will travel throughout the community.

"It had a great paint job. It looks great. It's going to be very visible and I think it's something kids are really going to be attracted to," Weldon said.

The bookmobile is set to make its big debut soon.
