ALBANY, GA (WALB) - About 240 folks were laughing for a good cause Thursday night.
The Kay H. Hind Senior Life Enrichment Center in downtown Albany hosted the 12th annual Comedy Night.
Thursday night's event featured comedian David Crowe.
The event raised funds for the Meals on Wheels Program.
The program serves 14 counties in southwest Georgia, delivering warm meals to home bound people.
Debbie Blanton, Southwest Georgia Council on Aging Executive Director, said Thursday night's goal is to raise 40 thousand dollars.
"To us and to the clients that we serve this is very important because this is our major fundraiser to support the Meals on Wheels program. So the clients that receive the meals, this ensures that they will continue to get those meals," Blanton said.
The event sold out in advance and Blanton encourages folks interested in getting tickets for next year's comedy night to buy early.
Blanton said they serve 750 to 800 meals per month to people in need.
