DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - The Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base's Credit Union has been named the Navy's National Distinguished Credit Union of the Year, because of their service after the January storms.
The Navy Federal branch aboard the MCLB was nominated by the base commander, Colonel James Carroll.
The Colonel said the branch reopened quickly following the January storms, that damaged many base properties and homes of Marine base personnel.
The branch offered emergency relief loans for those impacted and stayed open extra hours to help the Marines temporarily relocated from South Carolina.
The credit union employees also volunteered in the community with disaster cleanup.
