An Albany city leader is looking for volunteers for the next phase of fighting blighted property.

Transportation Planner Kerrie Davis says Fight Albany Blight leaders need volunteers and sponsors to help cleanup and rehab property in East Albany.

They're asking business owners to adopt a house in the community or donate funds to Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful.

The cleanup for the community was extended to December due to the storms in January.

So far, many action items have stemmed from the monthly meetings such a cleanup day, and now a neighborhood watch.

"One of the sergeants here that works directly with Neighborhood Watch that's going to be coming out to the community, telling them what all they need and potentially bringing some other neighborhood watch captains to the meeting to talk about what it takes in order for you to have a successful neighborhood watch," said Davis.

Fight Albany Blight leaders will have a community meeting focusing on developing a neighborhood watch.

That meeting will be held August 15th at 6 p.m. at Second Mt. Olive.

Leaders will also host a cleanup day in East Albany in September.
