School back in session in Valdosta with new start times

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

It was the first day of school for students of the Lowndes County and Valdosta City School Districts.

But the Valdosta City School District started an hour early.

Enrollment is up this year in the county by 65 students, making their grand total of students 10,317.

Parents and students were eager to get the day started.

First grader Tyson Davis said he is ready to work but most importantly he is ready to play!

“What are you looking forward to?” asked reporter Damon Arnold.

“Recess,” said Davis.

Valdosta School District start and finish times will be:

  • Elementary schools will start at 7:45 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Middle schools will start at 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • The high school will start at 8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
