VSU cross country will host a meet at Freedom Park in Valdosta September 1st.
It will be the first home meet for Valdosta State in two seasons--and it comes with a twist.
The meet will be called the "Border Clash"--pitting Georgia runners vs. Florida runners.
The top 5 runners from Georgia and Florida schools will pit their times against each other to see which state has the better cross country programs.
"We'll have some fun with it. the coaches are interested, the kids are having fun with it and I think the spectators will enjoy," said VSU cross country coach Todd Smoot. "It's not only rooting for your team, but rooting for the teams in your state, so it should be fun."
The meet is at a spectator-friendly time.
6:50 start time on a Friday night.
