Albany State's football team has just under a month before they kick off the season.
They opened up camp Friday afternoon, but lightning and rain put a damper on that.
The Golden Rams scheduled 3:00 practice got pushed back to about 4, and the team was only able to go for about a half hour until the weather pushed them off.
90 players reported to camp Thursday.
Over the summer 38 players came regularly for conditioning and to work with newly hired head coach Gabe Giardina.
With a new coaching staff, new system and plenty new players, Albany State's focus this camp is figuring out what they'll look like in 2017.
"We're trying to get an identity of who we're going to be. We're trying to create a family out there; a close-knit bonded group. We ran our conditioning test this morning and really had some seniors stepping up and pushing guys but leading guys in a positive manner. I really think it was a huge step for us."
The Golden Rams opener is September 2nd at home against Valdosta state.
Giardina's first test comes against arguably the toughest opponent on the schedule.
