Just before 6:00 Friday morning, someone called Lowndes Co. 911 to report two masked people breaking out a window to an apartment.
Multiple Valdosta Police Units surrounded the apartment, and officers told whoever was inside to surrender.
One of the burglars tried to run away on foot, but was quickly caught. The men broke in with tools they still had on them.
They were identified as Titus Coleman, 21, and Devante Tooley, 24. Both were taken to the Lowndes County Jail where they face multiple charges. Tooley already had four warrants out for his arrest.
Titus Coleman was charged with felony burglary, and two Misdemeanors, Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer and Criminal Trespass.
Devante Tooley was charged with felony burglary, Possession of Tools for the Commission of Crime and Criminal Trespass.
The Outstanding warrants for Tooley are for Violation of Probation in Lowndes County, a State Arrest Warrant, Violation of Probation in Valdosta, and a Bench Warrant in Remerton.
"The Valdosta Police Department is thankful of the private citizen who saw an obvious burglary in progress and called 911," said VPD Lieutenant Adam Bembry. "The call resulted in the offenders being caught red-handed. It should be noted that since August 2nd, citizen participation has assisted the Valdosta Police Department in the arrest of six different offenders for crimes occurring within the Valdosta City Limits."
