ALBANY, GA (WALB) - This weekend, you may notice more traffic around Albany State University, as incoming freshmen move their furniture into their new dorms.
Saturday and Sunday, ASU freshmen are encouraged to take advantage of the university's Drop and Go days.
Freshman can utilize this weekend to move in before the rest of the students do on the regular move-in day.
ASU Police Chief John Fields said this weekend will help lighten the amount of traffic on the actual move-in days, which are August 12 and 13th.
"It's kind of similar to homecoming. It's a lot of traffic," said Chief Fields. "But rest assured, the police department takes care of logistics. We have officers from the Dougherty County Sheriff's Department, ASU Police, Dougherty County Police, and some other law enforcement agencies that will be helping us out this weekend."
Chief Fields encouraged folks to use extra precaution when traveling around both the east and west campuses.
The drop and go days are Saturday and Sunday, August 5th and 6th.
On Saturday, you can move in between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
On Sunday, you can move in between 1 p.m and 6 p.m.
