COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) - Colquitt County school leaders said that construction on Odom Elementary is on schedule to be complete this fall.
Students will return to school in a few weeks and may notice work crews there.
They will be putting in a new gym, cafeteria, kitchen, and media center.
Two new parking lots are also being paved.
Superintendent Doug Howell said the work should be done by October or November.
"We delayed the start of our school year, this year by a week with our calendar to give the contractors an additional week in the summer to work, and that has been very helpful to them," said Howell.
School board members said the improvements were needed as the student body population has grown over the years.
