ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Unlocked cars seemed to be the target for crooks in one Albany apartment complex.

Albany Police are investigating a string of car break-ins on Erica Court in the Westover Gardens apartment complex.

Multiple victims reported their cars had been broken into Wednesday morning.

Shaneika Hall has lived in the complex for four months now.

She said, fortunately, her car wasn't broken into, but she can't say the same for her cousin whose car was parked right next to hers.

"Most of the cars they got into, those doors were unlocked," said Hall. "You can tell that maybe they were trying to get in through windows, using an object. It was just crazy. And I'm a single mother of two, so I was just overwhelmed period. This is a nice neighborhood."

Hall said this is yet another reminder not to keep valuables in your car, or even in your trunk, and to always lock your doors.

If you have any information about these car break-ins, call CrimeSTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
