Dougherty County Police invited the community to get to know officers on a personal level Monday night.
DCP hosted its 'National Night Out' at Radium Springs Middle School.
Law enforcement and first responders met with kids and parents who happened to be there for open house as well.
They also had lots of food and other vendors.
Officers say it's a great chance for them to spend time with people in the community on a positive note.
"This is one of the areas that was hit hard by the storms, so it's even more ironic that we're out here celebrating this tonight," said DCP Captain Tom Jackson. "So, anytime we can get these individuals to come out and have a good time and enjoy themselves, it's always a success for us."
Each department that attended stuffed backpacks with school supplies to give out to the students as well.
