City holding kickball tournament to raise school supplies

The City of Albany is providing an opportunity for competition and community enrichment.

On August 13th the city is partnering with Team Heat Southwest Athletics of Georgia for an event called kicking for education.

It will be a a kickball tournament at Highland Sports Park.

Entry for each team is 10 book bags stuffed with school supplies.

T.H.S.W.A.G. holds kickball leagues in the city, they want this one-day tournament to benefit the youth.

"We have a lot of kids that (come) out here watching us play kickball on Sundays," said T.H.S.W.A.G coach Maurice Williams. "Now its time to give back to them what they give to  us, that inspiration to keep going."

Festivities will start at 3 p.m.
