ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The next governor's race isn't until 2018, but one Democratic candidate has already tossed her hat in.
Stacey Evans is currently a state representative, but now she wants to pursue bigger things.
Evans says she is running on a platform of hope since she is a first generation college graduate.
She said she wants Georgians to have hope for good education, access to healthcare and equal opportunities for all.
According to Evans, this begins with investing in technical schools like we have right here in Albany.
"We have jobs that are unfilled. And we have Georgians who are unemployed," Evans explained. "But the skills of the unemployed Georgians don't fit these jobs. And a lot of those skills you can obtain in technical college. So investing in our technical colleges this way is also a way to invest in our students and their families, and our business community all at the same time."
Evans wants technical schools to be free for everyone to help employment opportunities.
