ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

There has been no shortage of opportunities in South Georgia for kids to celebrate going back to school this year.

Saturday, Optimistic Divas hosted a free Back to School Bash at American Legion Post 512 in Albany.

Organizer Melissa Caldwell with Optimistic Divas said they gave away iPads, laptops, book bags and school supplies.

More than 300 people from all over South Georgia attended the event that was paid for through fundraising.

"My whole event is to get a message out there to the kids, that where there's a will there's a way," said Caldwell. "I was trying to give back."

She said she hopes to make this an annual event and wants next year's bash to be bigger and better.
