ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Mall has an incentive to encourage people to spend back-to-school money here at home, instead of crossing state lines.

Since there is no tax-free holiday weekend in Georgia this year, the Mall will give a $20 gift card to the first 50 eligible shoppers.

Anyone who receives a gift card would need to take their receipt to the Information Centre showing that they spent $250 on back-to-school items in the mall.

Marketing Director Debra Rowe explained several stores have back-to-school sales as well.

"Children's Place who is doing up to 50 percent off the entire store with no exclusions for this weekend through Sunday. And we also have a lot of other retailers who are offering additional percentages off including Old Navy and JCPenney and Belk," said Rowe.

Albany Mall's sales tax refund takes place on Saturday, and August 5th.

They will also host a back-to-school fashion show on August 5th at 1 p.m.
