THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - If you live in Thomasville you may have noticed a lot of sirens and first responders near Archbold Hospital Thursday morning, it was only a drill.
Thomasville and Thomas County crews responded to a fire drill on the 7th-floor of the hospital.
Patients and staff were evacuated as if the fire was a real situation.
Fire officials said drills like this are important to do so they are prepared in case a fire actually does happen.
"This type of training exercise really helps us better prepare for those unknown things that mother nature may throw at us," said Fire Chief Chris Jones.
During the drill, Thomasville and Thomas County fire crews requested mutual aid from Camilla and Valdosta fire departments.
