TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

The Tifton Police Department confirms that a body was found at a home at the corner of 5th Street and Central Avenue.

A tarp covers a portion of the crawl space at the rear of the house.

Tifton police have been on the scene since about 11:00AM, after a person passing by called them, saying they had seen a body under the house.

Police said the body appears to be a middle-aged Hispanic male.

Police said people do live in the home, but they have been out at field work.

Police are not ruling out foul play, however, they say at this point there is no reason to suspect any.

"In a case like this, we have to be sure. We don't want to miss anything," said Tifton Police Lt. Lee Dunston. "We don't want to make an assumption. We are going to do what we have to do to ensure there wasn't any foul play, and if there was foul play then we will follow the leads that we get.

One man who works nearby said he has seen a man sitting on a chair under the home in the past.

Lt. Lee Dunston said that TPD has called in the GBI for assistance.
