VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Just after 5:00PM Tuesday, Valdosta Police officers were dispatched to a stabbing in the 1500 block of East Park Avenue.
Firefighters at Fire Station 2 reported that a 19 year old man approached the fire station bleeding from a chest wound. They provided first aid, and called for EMS.
The victim said he was at an apartment complex in the 1500 Block of East Park Avenue when he got into a dispute, and during this altercation, he was stabbed in the upper torso with a kitchen knife, by a 16 year old juvenile.
The victim, who was not identified by police, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
VPD took the juvenile, who cannot be identified, into custody, and charged him with aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, both felonies.
"The assistance to the Valdosta Police Department and the first aid provided to the victim by the Valdosta Fire Department cannot be understated. Had the victim not received immediate and skilled first aid from Firefighters, his life may have been in serious jeopardy," said VPD Lieutenant Adam Bembry.
The case has been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
