ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Hospital kicked off its nursing mentorship program Tuesday afternoon.
A handful of nurses attended Tuesday's kickoff class.
The ongoing program is designed to teach dozens of nurses how to successfully mentor newer nurses, and to develop social skills, conflict resolution, and social problem-solving.
Phoebe officials are encouraging every nurse to join the program.
"Well it's difficult sometimes transition into practice as a brand new nurse, and that relationship with someone that you are working with is really an integral part helping them to succeed," said Director of Nursing Education and Research, Tracy Suber.
Another big goal of the program is to increase retention of new nurses.
Phoebe will host another nurse mentorship program class next week.
