THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - State leaders said many things have been done in Thomasville and surrounding communities to assist folks in need.
Three behavioral health clinics opened after the closure of Southwestern State Hospital.
The department of behavioral health also helped find more than 800 people in region four homes through the Georgia housing voucher program.
Jennifer Dunn, Regional Services Admin, said "What we're looking at is how we can divert them to a lower level of care with enhanced community services around them or if we need to get them to the same level of care we have contract hospitals that we partner with."
The program pays rent and utilities for the tenants while they work on a recovery plan.
In the Thomasville area alone, the program has helped more than 300 people.
