ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

South Georgia teachers are getting some much-needed help when it comes to preparing for the upcoming school year.

Tuesday, 50 kids from Fairhope, Alabama, and Nashville, Tennessee worked with Mission Change, to hand out 160 baskets filled with items on back-to-school lists.

Teachers from Turner Elementary, International Studies, Lincoln Elementary, and Morningside Elementary all received the baskets.

"One teacher came out and when she heard that there were baskets for the teachers, she just started crying," said Mission Change Founder LaDonna Urick.  "And we just sat there and she hugged me, and tears were running all down my neck and my arm.  And I thought, 'How cool is this, that we are able to be a part of this in our community, and that we have a community that gives back and loves people?'"

Inside each basket was a Walmart gift card, and an encouraging letter for teachers to start the school year off right.
