SUMTER CO., GA (WALB) -

A woman who was traveling to Macon to visit a relative in the hospital was a patient in that same hospital on Monday.

The Georgia State Patrol said that Betty Austin, 49, was thrown out of a 2007 Chevy Malibu when it overturned and landed upside down in Sumter County on Sunday.

Paul McDougal was driving Betty and Mini Austin, 68, north on Highway 49, when he ran off the road, over-corrected and ran through a ditch and down an embankment.

McDougal and the elder Austin had minor injuries that were treated at Phoebe Sumter.

Betty was listed in good condition and could be released from Navicent Medical Center on Tuesday.
