TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

A South Georgia developer is breathing new life into some of Tifton's oldest buildings.

Developer and investor Harold Harper is transforming an old tobacco warehouse into a new residential space called the 'Lofts at Twin Brick.'

Those with the project said their goal was to keep the old historic elements of the warehouse, while also including some new upscale features.

"Just like leaving some of these old beams. None of this stuff was built in," Interior designer Meredith Rutland said.

Many of the historic features have been kept in the project, like the original ceiling and floors.

According to Harper, the building was used as a tobacco warehouse in the 1920s. The building has served as numerous facilities since then, even as a distribution center for Coca-Cola.

Of the 33 units inside the warehouse, more than 20 have already been leased.

The Lofts at Twin Brick will include a new Italian restaurant called 'Fresco Italiano.'

Harper and his team expect to celebrate with a big grand opening event. It will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017, at 5:00 p.m.
