ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

With the school year right around the corner, Soldiers for Christ Ministry in Albany is making sure that students impacted by January's storms have school supplies.

The ministry is accepting donations from the community for its back-to-school supply drive for storm victims.

Dougherty County school leaders estimate hundreds of students were impacted by January's storms.

Minister Rebekah Riddle is a storm victim herself. Her house was damaged by the storm on Jan. 2.

She said she knows what it's like to be in need. She already hosts free yard sales for storm victims. Now, she wants to make sure those students also have what they need to get the school year started on the right foot.

"It was due to volunteers that we still have a house that's still usable. So this is our way of showing our thankfulness and our gratefulness," said Riddle.

Riddle says she's in need of book bags and all school supplies, including binders, pencils and crayons.

She encourages people to keep an eye out for sales to buy in bulk.

Those interested in donating can call Soldiers for Christ Ministry at 229-603-0365.
